Google acquires restaurant website builder Appetas

May 15, 2014 By DomainCrunch Leave a Comment

One of the more interesting, self-engaged web builder sites is Appetas. Known for being specific to the restaurant, food, culinary, and cooking industries, Appetas helps small- to mid-sized businesses to easily construct their own websites, by using simple drop down menus for choosing things such as name, type of food, location, etc.

Recently, Google has acquired Appetas, ensuring the successful survival of the culinary site. The majority of Appetas’ fans are happy with this new arrangement, as it means that the pool of Google talent will share their high tech know-how, updating Appetas. In a recent survey, Appetas employees reported that their service was plagued with such difficulties as slow speed, incompatibility, outdated hosting methods, etc. With Google’s acquisition, the current Appetas platform will be shut down, replaced by a temporary alternative platform, while upgrades are being developed and implemented. The anticipated result with be a better, faster Appetas site.

For small business owners in the food industry, this translates into a potentially beneficial marketing advantage. Currently, local restaurants can be found on sites such as Yelp or TripAdvisor, which is good, but not very strong. With the partnership between Google and Appetas, small businesses owners can easily create eye appealing websites and have their businesses integrated with local advertising, all thanks to Google.

Additional features will be made available to the Appetas site, such as reservations, delivery services, menus, special features, etc., making them potentially the number one website creator for the culinary industry. With the marriage of Google and Appetas, small business owners, customers, and advertisers are all winners!
